Obama Stocks

First it was the comemorative coin, then the limited edition plates, now people are trying to pass stock picks off as Obama stocks. Time magazine has their own list, but when it comes down to it a lot more people will have hope in America once January 20th, 2009 comes and goes.

Obama has made a lot of talk about improving the infrastructure of America and using that as a way to improve the unemployment problem. This has caused lots of people to come out for stocks involving concrete, steel and asphalt.

It's important to remember that with Obama being a Democrat, education, energy, and healtcare are all going to be important industries to watch as well. Ethanol has been asleep with the decline of oil however oil is starting to run back up so the corn based stocks may come back from their slumber.

Ultimately, there is no magic bullet - unless you only plan on investing for a day or two. You'd be better off finding a reputable company that pays a dividend and just holding tight.

2009 Guide to mastering money

Consumerist has a great post about 9 ways you can make sure 2009 is your best year ever. They all boil down to knowing what you're sacrificing and why you're doing it.
